One of my aims, as I work, is to transport the people I am drawing and painting to other parts of Britain. In a sense portraiture is about immortality, paintings are alive, encapsulating the sitter and artist's inner state forever. The human face is, and has always been, one of the most important and captivating things artists have painted and I spend most of my time, when not working, in the Tudor section of the National Portrait Gallery.

“Christy's work stopped us in our tracks. Whilst it was a subtle and quietly understated piece, we were bowled over by its beauty, humour and stunning draughtsmanship. Her works always carry a narrative, her gorgeous dreamlike scenarios document British life - its culture, politics and heritage.” Tatha Gallery Prize - Tatha Gallery Director.
Christy lives in London and works across the UK
