Have you noticed that many people prefer to create a power inbalance, in their favour, with self defeating results? In these instances I often consider whether what they are really missing is a healthy dose of psychosis, or a dead family member, or two, to realise that life need not be about much other than love and good work. But no, they persist, and in so doing love and Art undergoes a tragic death. So sad.
I am in love. With the ideas, but the man will do too. My education gave me Greek as well as Art but somewhere someone forgot Chomsky. To discover him at 46 is really not acceptable.
That awful moment has arrived when one realises, there is no getting away from it, one is kind of middle aged. The thought came to me when I arrived at my youngest's new flat, my daughter has moved out and was making me coffee in her new kitchen for the first time. We discussed work, I was surrounded by the next generation preparing themselves to do great things. One has landed a job in TV and the other has landed a job in a top publication. We discussed how we as women could do the best work we could toward the common good, eradicating as much bigotry, unfairness and unquestioning acceptance of the status quo, as possible.
I had high hopes for Russell, I can't live happily in a country where many people feel powerless, unheard, disenfranchised and marginalised. I thought he might break through, give them an ear and also a voice. What did he do instead? He did a turn around only witnessed in those that have no ethical and moral core. He has let them down. If I were his fan I would smell the lack of integrity a mile off. The court jester normally delivers truths and is sharp as a razor blade. This jester both lied and displayed a lack of intellect, an unforgivable thing. I wonder whether there is a regulating body for comedians? If there is he should be struck off.
I am in a marginal seat, I can't vote Miliband until I hear he is outlawing fear of images along with fear of Islam, so it has to be the other lot I suppose.
