Christy Burdock was awarded the John Purcell Paper Award at Neo:ArtPrize at Bolton Museum 2019
Burdock’s practice takes her across the world, from head, to hand, to audience, she communicates through images, researching ideology as it manifests within closed door societies, offering a unique perspective on what was hidden in plain sight. Her work is shown in major galleries across the UK and in 2020, in New York.
In 2019 she won the John Purcell Award at the Neo Art Prize, Bolton Museum. In 2016 she was awarded the RCA Gordon Peter Pickard award to travel on the QM2 transatlantic, in 2017 she was selected for the Bloomberg New Contemporaries, in 2018 she became the annual resident artist in Quentin Blake’s public gallery House of Illustration and in 2019 she was selected for the Neo:Art Prize 2019, the Creekside Open 2019, the Wales Contemporary, ING Discerning Eye and the Wells Contemporary Open 2019. In 2020 she was selected for the Chaiya Art Awards exhibition Oxo Tower Gallery, the Royal Society of British Artists 303rd annual exhibition and was selected for the C24 Gallery New York Exhibition ‘The Seventh View’.
